## Description

The Fw 190A-8 was a very important fighter plane for the German Air Force during the later years of World War II. Pilots liked it because it was reliable, strong, and had good firepower. Allied pilots saw it as a tough enemy and called it the "Butcher Bird." Over 6,600 A-8 versions were made before the war ended. This particular plane, werk nummer 173056, was built in Cottbus, Germany, in July 1944. It's believed that parts of it were rescued from a destroyed factory and taken to Cottbus for final assembly. It may have flown as "White 14" with a German fighter wing. In 1989, it was found in Reims, France, and later bought by an American collector who had it restored. The restoration used many parts from Flug Werk. The plane flew again in 2011 after being restored. The Flug Werk FW190 is a very accurate restoration of the original plane. It uses hardware that meets the old German standards. The engine is a Russian Shvetsov ASh 82 T engine, which is similar to the original BMW engine but has more horsepower.
