Description

The R44 Cadet is a two-seat helicopter that works well for flight schools and operators who want a small, cost-effective helicopter with the power of a larger one. It uses the same structure, rotor system, and Lycoming O-540 engine as the R44 Raven I. The rear cabin area is reconfigured for cargo, the maximum takeoff weight is reduced to 2,200 pounds, and the engine power is reduced to 210 horsepower for takeoffs and 185 horsepower for cruise flight. The lower weight and power increase performance at higher altitudes and extend the helicopter's lifespan to 2,400 hours. The Cadet includes the latest Robinson technologies, such as a thinner instrument panel and impact-resistant fuel tanks. Equipped with a Lycoming O-540 engine with a carburetor, the R44 Raven I balances performance and cost. The Raven I has carburetor heat assist, which improves safety and reduces pilot workload by automatically adjusting carburetor heat in response to power changes.
