Description
1975 SIAI-Marchetti SF.260B - N13FD - RARE STANDARD CATEGORY (Not Experimental) ' Ex-Air Combat USA ' 310 SMOH ' Aerobatic + IFR ' Honest Return-to-Service ' MAKE OFFER Straight talk first: N13FD has been hangared and out of service since September 2020. It is sold honestly as a return-to-service airplane - it will need a fresh annual, pitot-static/transponder certification, and ADS-B Out before it flies again, and I encourage every buyer to do a full prebuy and engine borescope. No surprises, no overpromising. In return you get a genuinely rare SF.260B: low-time engine, standard airworthiness, and equipment most of these airplanes don't have. WHY THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT. This is a STANDARD-CATEGORY SIAI-Marchetti SF.260B - not experimental. It holds an FAA standard airworthiness certificate (Normal/Utility/Aerobatic), which sets it apart from the experimental-exhibition SF.260s and warbird trainers that make up most of the U.S. fleet, and gives its owner far broader operating latitude. It is also a genuine veteran of Air Combat USA - the pioneering civilian air-combat operation founded by Michael E. Blackstone, whose SF.260 fleet flew more than 100,000 sorties. Airplanes with this combination of paperwork and history rarely come up. DESIGNED BY A MASTER. The SF.260 is Stelio Frati's masterpiece - all-metal, flush-riveted, low-wing, with retractable gear, wingtip tanks, and a sliding bubble canopy. More than two dozen air forces used it to screen pilots headed for jet fighters. Certified to +6/-3 G aerobatic, it is also a real IFR cross-country traveler, cruising around 170 knots with comfortable 500-700 nm legs, day or night. Very few aircraft do warbird aerobatics AND genuine cross-country this well. It looks, sounds, and flies like a mini P-51 fighter. MISSION EQUIPMENT INSTALLED. Cockpit gunsights and air-combat simulation system; three HD cameras with an electronic switcher for in-flight edit-to-SD; Panasonic recorder; and a smoke system. For an operator interested in air-combat rides, demonstration, or aerial cinematography, this is a ready-built configuration that costs tens of thousands and many months to assemble from scratch. (Equipment conveys with the airframe; any commercial passenger operation requires the operator's own authority and insurance.) THE AIRPLANE. Airframe 5,500 hours total time. The 260-hp Lycoming engine and constant-speed propeller show just 310 hours since a Western Skyways overhaul. Stored in a dry hangar in Chino, California - an inland climate well regarded for preserving airframes and engines. Because it has been sitting, the engine deserves a borescope and the airplane a prebuy; I welcome both.
