Description
1976 Cardinal C177B N22177 w/2,415 TTAF with advanced avionics. This late production model of the Cardinal has very low time and a hybrid analog & glass cockpit. Equipped with a full suite of advanced state-of-the-art avionics package including Garmin GFC-600 AutoPilot, ADSB-In / Out, dual Garmin G5 ADI/AHRS, Transponder, JPI engine monitor and dual Avidyne IFD-5 series top-of-the line FMS installed in 2025. As you can see in the pictures, this is a gorgeous plane in great condition, inside and out. Flys like a dream. Always hangared. The 1976 Cessna Cardinal 177B is widely considered the finest iteration of the Cardinal line, benefiting from years of factory refinements. It stands out for its unmatched cabin visibility (thanks to the forward-placed cockpit and no wing struts), a spacious interior that rivals larger aircraft and excellent handling. Needs a new engine and prop and this fact has been factored into the price. Otherwise this highly sought after low-time plane with advanced avionics would be selling for much more. This is a rare opportunity for someone to get a excellent value on a great plane. Plane is currently in Oshkosh, WI. New owner can work with A&P to procure and install new engine and prop. As a Systems Engineer, I have an avid interest in aviation technologies, so for a long time I have been experimenting with virtually every known aviation device for navigation and aerial photography as I have documented thousands of landings and take-offs using various configurations, so I have a surplus of high-resolution gear and many more accessories than I need so I will be selling this extra equipment at substantial discounts just to free up space in the hangar. Depending on who ends up buying this particular aircraft, I may include some or all of this equipment depending on level of interest just to sweeten the deal. Extra accessories available include Sentry ADS-B receiver as a back-up to hardwired ADSB-In, multiple calibrated fuel dipsticks, multiple style fuel sump cups, multiple oil funnels, tow bar, unused rafts, an unused smoke mask, PJ2 handheld radio w/direct connect for headset, Bose noise cancelling headset w/bluetooth, Clark headsets (fixed wing and helicopter), checklist, operating manuals, misc kneeboards, carry bags, ipads, suction cup and yoke mounts for iPads and iPhones, GoPros with multiple interior/exterior mounts, high capacity flash memory, chargers, battery packs, etc. Avionics / Equipment SBAS/LPV FMS/GPS/NAV/COM Dual Avidyne IFD-5 series dual suite based on their premium platform. 3D exo-centric Synthetic Vision Hybrid touch user interface FMS Preview™ flight plan loading with real-time graphical depictions Seamless integration to Avidyne's IFD 100 iPad app Powerful 10 Watt (Optional 16 Watt) VHF COM with 8.33kHz spacing DIGITAL AUTOPILOT Garmin GFC 600 is a premium, fully digital autopilot featuring precision brushless DC servos, advanced envelope protection (ESP), envelope leveling, and coupled VNAV approaches. Designed for high-performance, It features advanced safety protections, built-in GPS roll steering, and seamless integration with navigation sources to significantly reduce pilot workload DIGITAL ADI/AHRS/HSI Dual Garmin G5's Attitude Indicator (ADI): Uses solid-state AHRS to provide pitch, roll, and secondary data like airspeed, altitude, vertical speed, and slip/skid indications.Directional Gyro / HSI: Can act as a standalone directional gyro or, when connected to a compatible GPS navigator, a full-featured Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) that features auto-coursing and GPS roll steering.Integrated GPS & Air Data: Features a built-in GPS receiver for highly accurate groundspeed and ground track readouts.Backup Battery: Includes a built-in, rechargeable lithium-ion emergency backup battery that provides up to 4 hours of operation in the event of an electrical failure ADSB-In and Out Transponder Comms panel JPI Engine Monitor Airframe 2,417 TTAF great condition (see pics) Engines / Mods / Prop Needs new engine and prop. Plane is currently in Oshkosh, WI at one of the most established and reputable A&P shops in the region so the new engine and prop can be installed by this shop without the need to transport plane elsewhere. Interior / Exterior Excellent condition (see pics) Remarks A catastrophic engine failure forced me to make an on off-field landing which resulted in slight damage to the left wing tip and destroyed the nose gear and prop. The minor wingtip damage occurred as the plane gently settled to the ground at the end of my landing roll in grass and mud down an embankment which also resulted in damage to the nose gear and prop. The firewall is just fine and there is no damage at all to the airframe or anything else. No scratches, dents, creases or any other impact to the airframe or windows. The only damage resulting from this grassy field landing other than the minor wingtip abrasion is to the nose gear and prop. There was absolutely no damage to the doors or any other structural portions of the aircraft. Further testimony to the gentle nature of the landing was the complete absence of injury to myself and my 84 year old passenger. We simply opened the doors and stepped out like any other landing. An independent evaluation by a veteran insurance expert and a seasoned A&P from Oshkosh determined that these items were the extent of the damage. This was an otherwise uneventful landing which is why nothing else was damaged in any way. A new nose gear assembly is currently being installed and the wing tip is being repaired in Oshkosh, WI at one of the area's premier A&P shops. These costs are covered by insurance and will not be passed onto the buyer. The plane was also recovered by this same outfit as required by the insurance company because they have a long-established record of being experts in aircraft recovery. I was there during the whole process and witnessed first hand that they handled the plane with kid-glove treatment and ensured that no damage was caused as they brought the aircraft to their shop. This is a great opportunity to upgrade the engine and add mods like a tuned port exhaust manifold, an exhaust fairing, LED lights, vortex generators etc. while it is in the shop. Since a new prop is required anyway, then this is also an opportunity to upgrade to a triple blade prop. I have already factored into the pricing equation the new engine and prop procurement, installation, hassle factor and the fact that - although I was able to set the plane down gently - I do realize there is a stigma with certain individuals regarding a plane that has had a "forced landing", regardless of there being no damage to anything beyond the cosmetic wing tip issue and the nose gear which is being replaced rather than repaired just to ensure it is in perfect condition. Reason for selling: I like the Cardinals so much that this is my second one, but I can only afford one...so I have to let this one go. It has been priced to sell, far below what it is actually worth. Someone is going to get a fantastic airplane at a great price.
