The flagship of the Diamond lineup, the DA62 is a twin-engine, seven-seat luxury piston aircraft. Often described as an “SUV of the skies,” the DA62 offers an impressive combination of space, performance, and efficiency for family or business travelers. It features two Austro AE330 diesel engines (180 hp each) with single-lever power controls, allowing a cruise speed around 190 knots and a maximum range of approximately 1,280–1,300 nautical miles. With up to 7 seats in a three-row configuration (five seats standard in the European version, or a 7-seat option in the U.S., the DA62 provides ample room for passengers and baggage. The cabin is outfitted with premium materials, adjustable seating, and modern amenities (such as optional air conditioning), giving passengers comfort comparable to light turboprops. Despite its size, the DA62 is efficient, consuming only about 11–12 gallons per hour in cruise (both engines combined), thanks to aerodynamic refinements and the efficient Jet-A powerplants. Like all Diamond aircraft, the DA62 comes with a Garmin G1000 NXi flight deck and has numerous safety redundancies (structural, system, and propulsion) built-in. The result is a twin that offers the speed and range of much heavier aircraft while remaining exceptionally easy to fly and economical to operate.
