A-1 Husky ALL serial numbers. Aviat Inc. A-1 Husky ALL serial numbers. Aviat Aircraft Inc. A-1 Husky ALL serial numbers. Aviat Aircraft Inc. A-1A Husky ALL serial numbers. Aviat Aircraft Inc. A-1B Husky ALL serial numbers. 2. PURPOSE The A-1 Husky aircraft listed above are eligible for installation of the optional Aviat Aircraft Inc. Aft Stowage Compartment (Aviat Aircraft Inc. Kit A-1-571). 3. BACKGROUND Installation of the Aviat Aircraft Inc. Aft Stowage Compartment in the Husky aircraft has been approved to allow stowage of a maximum of 30 pounds of baggage in the fuselage area aft of the passenger compartment aft wall with access through the battery access door. The weight of the stowage compartment installation and allowable baggage is part of current useful load. There is no change in the maximum gross weight or center of gravity envelope of the aircraft with the installation and loading of the aft stowage compartment. There are no changes to the operational limitations of the Husky aircraft with installation and loading of the aft stowage compartment. 4. COMPLIANCE OPTIONAL. Compliance with this service bulletin is required only for those aircraft equipped with the optional aft stowage compartment. P.O. The Aft Stowage Compartment is available from Aviat Aircraft Inc. as kit number A-1-571. The type design details and installation are defined in Aviat Aircraft Inc. Master Drawing List 96-00-00 (Revision D dated 17 April 2000 or later) and are described in the Supplemental Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Aft Stowage Compartment (Aviat document 96-04-00). Additional installation instructions are supplied with the component and installation kit and/or may be provided by service letter by Aviat as required and appropriate. B. Aircraft Configuration and Condition. The aft stowage compartment is designed for installation in Husky aircraft meeting type design as defined in FAA Type Certificate Datasheet A22NM. Contact the aircraft manufacturer regarding aircraft with alterations and/or repairs which might affect the installation or operation of the aft stowage compartment or might affect the operation of the aircraft with the aft stowage compartment installed. These repairs and alterations may include but are not limited to: • Damage, repair or alteration of structure affecting installation hardware or operation. • Installations, alterations or relocations of systems or equipment which may cause interference with stowage compartment hardware or operation. Installation of the Aft Stowage Compartment without consideration of repairs and/or alterations described above may result in unacceptable airworthiness of the aircraft. Installation and Documentation Installation of the Aft Stowage Compartment in the Husky aircraft requires the following: 1. Inspection of aircraft for airworthiness. 2. Inspection of aircraft and aircraft maintenance and repair records to determine existence of any repairs and/or alterations which might affect installation and operation of the Aft Stowage Compartment and/or might affect airworthiness of the aircraft after installation of the Aft Stowage Compartment. 3. Installation of Kit A-1-571 per kit instructions, the Supplemental Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and other supplemental information provided by the manufacturer. 4. Completion of maintenance records per FAR part 43 describing work completed. "FAA approved Aviat Aircraft Inc. Husky Service Bulletin 16" may be referenced as a basis of approval. 5. Inspection and return to service per FAR part 43. 6. Attachment of revised operating limitations consisting of the approved Husky Airplane Flight Manual (version appropriate to aircraft model), Airplane Flight Manual Supplement, Aft Stowage Compartment (Aviat document 96-03-00, revision A dated 18 April 2000 or later). 7. Attachment of Supplemental Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Aft Stowage Compartment (Aviat document 96-04-00, revision B dated April 17, 2000 or later). Documents listed in item 6 and 7 above are available from Aviat Aircraft Inc. This service bulletin and data shall not be used as an approval basis for installation of the Aft Stowage Compartment without the official documentation listed above and the concurrence of Aviat Aircraft Inc. D. Weight and balance The Husky aircraft weight and balance is affected by the following amounts. Item Weight (lbs.) There are no changes to the operational limitations of the Husky aircraft with the Aft Stowage Compartment installed and loaded. F. Instructions for Continued Airworthiness. Increased inspection and maintenance is required for Husky aircraft equipped with the Aft Stowage Compartment. The additional inspection and maintenance information is presented in the Supplemental Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Aft Stowage Compartment (Aviat document 96-04-00 dated 17 April 2000 or later). G. Life-Limited Components. The Aft Stowage Compartment contains no life-limited components and installation does not create or affect any life-limited components on the Husky aircraft.
