SECTION 1 Introduction This document comprises Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness that apply to the AAL 407 Utility Basket, Kit installed on BELL 407 rotorcraft. The information and data contained in this document are supplemental to the information contained in the existing ICA for the BELL 407. SECTION 2 Description The following information provides a functional description of the BELL 407 Utility Basket, Kit as defined in Alpine Aerotech LP authority dataset AAL-390-040-001. In the event that an operator has requirements to carry cargo and does not want to use internal stowage space, the BELL 407 Utility Basket, Kit gives an external cargo option. The kit is capable of carrying a maximum load of 200lbs, evenly distributed within the basket volume of approximately 525 liters. The utility basket includes two locking latches in the lid to keep cargo safely contained inside and is also equipped with a quick disconnect system that allows the basket to be removed or installed quickly to reconfigure the aircraft for different operational requirements. Scheduled inspection for the item(s) referenced within this document shall be accomplished in accordance with (IAW) the Inspection Procedures specified. 5. Repair allowances for the item(s) referenced within this document shall be accomplished IAW the Repair Procedures specified. 6. Refer to the current revision of the BHT 407 Maintenance Manual for the chapter(s) and section(s) referenced within this document. 2. General Inspections, as indicated within this document, are defined as visual, non-thorough checks. 3. Detailed Inspections, as indicated within this document, are defined as visual and thorough, searching checks. 4. Perform Daily Inspections/Pilot Pre-flight Check every day, prior to flight operation. If damage is detected, perform the 600 Hour/12 Month Inspections. 5. Perform 600 Hour/12 Month Inspections every 600 hours or every 12 months, whichever occurs first, prior to flight operation. If damage is detected, refer to the Repair Procedures section within this document. The approved inspection interval tolerance for the 600 Hour/12 Month Inspection is a maximum of 10%. Perform a General Inspection on all items in the BELL 407 Utility Basket, Kit, for proper function. 2. 600 Hour/12 Month Inspections Data Reference: Section 5: Removal & Replacement Instructions Section 6: Illustrated Parts Breakdown i. Perform a Detailed Inspection on all items, materials, and finishes in the BELL 407 Utility Basket, Kit for evidence of corrosion, cracks, and damage. ii. Perform a Detailed Inspection on all items in the BELL 407 Utility Basket, Kit for evidence of excessive wear. iii. Perform a Detailed Inspection on all items, materials, and finishes in the BELL 407 Utility Basket, Kit for proper integrity and condition. iv. Perform a Detailed Inspection on all hardware and fasteners in the BELL 407 Utility Basket, Kit for proper condition, security, and torque. v. Perform a pull test on the latch strikers. The acceptable load range is 5.50 to 6.50 lbs. If the measured load is below this range, replace the lead bumpers and adjust the striker height. If the load remains out of range after adjustment, the strikers are considered worn and must be replaced. Repair Procedures Repairs to the item(s) referenced within this document are not permitted. Refer to the applicable BELL 407 Maintenance Manual, for general information on airworthiness limitations and airworthiness limitation schedules. 2. Item(s) not listed in the Scheduled Airworthiness Limitations section within this document have an unlimited airworthiness life. Scheduled Airworthiness Limitations 1. There are no airworthiness limitations associated with the item(s) referenced within this document. The Airworthiness Limitations section is FAA approved and specifies maintenance required under Sections 43.16 and 91.403 of the Federal Aviation Regulations unless an alternative program has been FAA approved. The Airworthiness Limitations section is approved by the Minister and specifies maintenance required by any applicable airworthiness or operating rule unless an alternative program has been approved by the Minister.
