Airworthiness Directive Schedule Aeroplanes Diamond DA 20 Series
Diamond DA20 · Service Bulletins
Overview
This document is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) schedule specifically for the Diamond DA 20 series aircraft, including the DA 20 A1 and DA 20 C1 models. Issued by the CAA of New Zealand, it outlines mandatory inspections and modifications required to maintain airworthiness and safety. The directives are applicable to specific serial numbers and include compliance timelines. The document serves as a critical reference for operators and maintenance personnel to ensure that the aircraft meets safety standards and regulatory requirements. It includes detailed instructions for inspections, modifications, and amendments to the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM).
- DA 20 A1 aircraft must inspect aileron controls within the next 10 hours TIS.
- Rudder pedals on DA 20 A1 must have AFM amendments and placards installed before further flight.
- DA20-C1 aircraft must follow specific fuel system maintenance based on operational history to prevent engine shutdown.
- AFM revision 23 mandates specific preflight idle mixture and ground idle speed limitations for DA20-C1 aircraft.
- Compliance deadlines are critical; failure to comply may result in safety risks.

Aileron Controls – Inspection and Modification
This section details the inspection and modification requirements for the aileron controls on DA 20 A1 aircraft, specifically serial numbers 10002 to 10110. It mandates a visual inspection for foreign objects inside the wings and modification of the aileron pushrod fairings, to be completed within the next 10 hours of Time in Service (TIS).
Rudder Pedal – AFM Amendment and Modification
This section addresses the rudder pedal modifications for DA 20 A1 aircraft, serial numbers 10002 to 10287. It requires an amendment to the AFM to prohibit spinning, installation of a cockpit placard, and modification of the aircraft as per a service bulletin. Compliance is required before further flight or by a specified date.
Fuel System – Inspection and AFM Amendment
Applicable to DA20-C1 aircraft, serial numbers C0001 to C0473, this section outlines inspection and maintenance requirements for the fuel system to prevent in-flight engine shutdown. It includes specific actions based on the aircraft's operational history and mandates an AFM amendment to reflect new limitations.
ELT G-Switch Jumper Wire – Inspection
This directive applies to all DA20-C1 aircraft fitted with an Artex 1000 ELT. It requires an inspection of the ELT G-switch jumper wire, effective from February 4, 2026.
Safety notes
- Ensure compliance with all ADs to maintain airworthiness and safety.
- Pilots must be briefed on AFM amendments and limitations.
