General Information
The DA 40 is a single-engine, four-seated cantilever low wing airplane with composite construction and fixed tricycle landing gear. It has a maximum take-off weight of 1150 kg (2535 lb) for the Normal category and 980 kg (2161 lb) for the Utility category.
Technical Characteristics and Operational Limitations
The DA 40 has a wingspan of 11.94 m (39 ft 2 in), a length of 8.01 m (26 ft 3 in), and a height of 1.97 m (6 ft 6 in). The aircraft is powered by a Textron Lycoming IO-360 M1A engine with a maximum take-off rotational speed of 2700 r.p.m. The maximum operating altitude is 5000 m (16,404 ft).
