Kitfox 4 1200 manual I'm considering purchasing my first aircraft and have narrowed it down to a Kitfox Safari. I've got 86 hours of tail-wheel experience, but struggling to find a Kitfox V with a Rotax engine, instead seeing Model IVs being sold more often. My goal is to fly on camping trips with my wife, who weighs 150lbs, and myself at 195lbs, along with possibly 50- 100lbs of gear. I'd also like to be able to fly to Oshkosh one year in the aircraft. Some posters mentioned that some Kitfox IVs have an empty weight of around 650lbs with a 912 engine, leaving 550 pounds of useful load. Others pointed out that the baggage area is volume-limited and can only carry 40 pounds of gear. One poster shared their experience flying with friends on camping trips in Idaho, using lighter-weight gear to save weight and make the trip more manageable. They mentioned scanning sporting goods stores for lightweight gear, such as a 3lb sleeping bag and 6lb tent. Another poster noted that food is often the heaviest item when carrying cargo, and shared their experience flying with friends on camping trips in the backcountry of Idaho. Overall, it seems that while the Kitfox IV can be used for short camping trips, its useful load is limited, and careful planning and lightweight gear are necessary to make such trips successful. The author of AM #6 shares their experience with the Kitfox Model 4-1200, a high- performance aircraft that excels in cross-country flights. With a cargo pod, this plane can carry up to 50 lbs of gear between two cargo areas and take off from 1600 foot grass strips. Despite its impressive capabilities, camping is not an option for this minimalist duo. The author credits their 20 years of service as a Marine with teaching them the value of comfort and amenities. They highlight the benefits of staying in Super 8 or Best Western hotels, which has become a staple in their travels. Looking at the Model 4 aircraft, it's worth paying attention to its landing rollout, but the larger vertical tail surface provides enough control power. The electric pitch trim feature allows for hands-off flight in most normal attitudes. Many Model 4s came with a 80 HP Rotax engine, while newer variants now use the 100 HP Rotax 912S, resulting in better power loadings. Before flying the airplane, be prepared for its capabilities. In 2001, the Classic 4 was introduced as the Lite Squared and adopted by the ultra light community as a two-place trainer. The Model 4 can accommodate two-place training and is ideal for Sport Pilots. Key specifications include a wing span of 29' or 32', empty weight of 500 lbs., and range of 120-132 ft² x 1200/1050 pounds. Performance metrics include takeoff distance, ground roll rate, climb, cruise speed, landing distance, and service ceiling. You provided an email with your contact information.
