Louis Schreiner Field, Kerrville, Texas 78028 tel: 830-896-6000 www.mooney.com THIS BULLETIN IS FAA APPROVED FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICE BULLETIN M20--294 Date: January 18, 2007 SUBJECT: Inspection and replacement of retaining nut fastener on the engine throttle arm for TCM engines. MODELS/ SN AFFECTED: M20R -- All aircraft M20S -- All aircraft M20TN -- All Aircraft TIME OF COMPLIANCE: Next 10 hour of Flight Time INTRODUCTION: There has been one reported instance, discovered in the field, of the throttle body control arm being loose. This will require a (1) time inspection and replacement of the throttle body retaining nut fastener. INSTRUCTIONS: Read entire procedure before beginning work. 1. Turn master switch -- OFF. 2. Remove top cowling per instructions provided in Chapter 71-10-00 of applicable MAC aircraft Ser vice & Maintenance Manual. 3. Remove and clean any torque seal from threads and retaining nut fastener on the engine throttle arm. NOTE: If the throttle body arm is removed, adjustments will be required per instructions provided in Chap- ters 71-00-52 and 76--00--01 of applicable MAC aircraft Service & Maintenance Manual. 4. Remove retaining nut from throttle body arm and Inspect mating surface for any unusual wear. Install new retaining nut p/n MS21042-5 included in your SB Kit [P/N SB M20-294-001] and torque to 100-120 IN-LB (see Figure M20-294-1). 5. Verify throttle linkage adjustment per instructions provided in Chapters 71--00--52 and 76-10-00 of applicable MAC aircraft Service & Maintenance Manual. 6. Apply a bead of torque seal to threads and fastener. 7. Re-install top cowling (and bottom cowling if removed) per instructions provided in Chapter 71-10-00 of applicable MAC aircraft Service & Maintenance Manual. 8. Complete the Inspection Card (positive or negative) p/n Form 07-0001 included in your SB Kit [P/N SB M20-294-001] and return it to Mooney Airplane Company. 9. Complete log book entry. 10. Return aircraft to service. 11. Procedure complete. WARRANTY: Mooney Airplane Company, Inc. will warrant labor (approximately 1 hour), when done in accor- dance with the procedures of this Service Bulletin for aircraft currently covered under the Mooney Airplane Company, Inc. factory warranty program.
