INTRODUCTION: There has been a reported incident of the exhaust transition tubes (LH/RH) cracking and/or showing signs of fatigue deformation. This will require an inspection and replacement of any part exhibiting damage. Contact - Teledyne Continental Motors at www.genuinecontinen- tal.aero/ for replacement parts. The attached compliance card needs to be filled out and returned to Mooney Airplane Company upon completion of this Service Bulletin M20--309. INSTRUCTIONS: Read entire procedures before beginning work. 1.1. Turn master switch - OFF. 1.2. Remove top cowling per instructions provided in Chapter 71-10-00 of applicable MAC aircraft Service & Maintenance Manual. 1.3. Locate and Inspect each side of exhaust assembly transitions for cracks or fatigue deformation as shown in figure SB M20-309-1. 1.4. Any parts found to exhibit damage, contact Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM) for replacement parts, refer to www.genuinecontinental.aero/ for contact numbers. NOTE: Fill out compliance card and send by MAIL or FAX to Mooney Airplane Company as indicated on the attached Compliance Card (ref Figure M20-309-2) 1.5. Replace part(s) according to Appendix B specifications of the latest TSIO-550 Service and Maintenance Manual. 1.6. Re-install top cowling per instructions provided in Chapter 71-10-00 of applicable MAC aircraft Service & Maintenance Manual. 1.7. Complete log book entry. 1.8. Return aircraft to service. 1.9.
