Preflight Check
The preflight check includes verifying the aircraft log and papers, ensuring magnetos and master switch are off, checking circuit breakers, and confirming fuel quantity. An outside check must be performed according to the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM).
Starting Engine & After Engine Start Check
Before starting the engine, ensure the cabin door and windows are closed, seat belts are secured, and the fuel shutoff valve is on. After starting, check oil pressure within the green arc and ensure avionics are on and set.
Taxi Check
During the taxi check, pilots must verify brakes and steering, and check the magnetic compass to ensure proper operation before moving the aircraft.
Run Up
The run-up procedure includes checking oil temperature and pressure, ensuring the throttle is set to 1,600 rpm, and confirming magneto operation with specific RPM limits.
Climb Check
During the climb check, pilots should ensure full power is set and maintain a speed of 60 mph.
Cruise Check
In cruise, the altimeter should be set as required, cruise power adjusted according to the AFM, and the mixture leaned as necessary.
Final Check
Before landing, the final check includes ensuring carburettor heat is cold as required and maintaining a speed of 60 mph.
Parking & Engine Shut Down
After landing, the parking and engine shut down procedure involves applying brakes, reducing throttle to 1,000 rpm, and turning off avionics and the master switch.
