Exhaust System Inspection

The exhaust system must be inspected for cracks, corrosion, heat damage, or weld separations. For aircraft with less than 950 hours of operation, inspections should occur every 100 hours. For those with more than 950 hours, inspections should be conducted every 50 hours. Any defects found during inspection require repair or replacement.

Inspection Areas

Key areas to inspect include the carburetor heat support for blisters and cracks, the Y-joint at the aft cylinder stack for cracks, and the aluminum shroud at shroud ring areas. Tail pipes should be checked for internal pitting and wall thickness, particularly at the outside radius, which is the thinnest section.

Part Numbers for Exhaust Components

The document lists various part numbers for exhaust components, including mufflers, shrouds, and clamps. For instance, the part number 26385-00 refers to a muffler, while 23504-000 is for a shroud. This information is crucial for maintenance and replacement.

Service Bulletins and Recommendations

The document references several service bulletins, including SB 210 and SB 202, which provide additional guidance on compliance and maintenance practices. It is recommended to install heat shields on the engine mount to enhance service life.

Safety notes

  • Repair or replace any defective components found during inspections.
  • Exhaust stacks may break if certain service bulletins are not complied with.
