Engine Failure on Take Off Roll
In the event of an engine failure during takeoff roll, the pilot should immediately reduce throttle to idle, apply brakes, and turn off the mixture and magnetos. The master switch should also be turned off.
Engine Fire on Ground
If an engine fire occurs on the ground, the pilot should continue cranking the starter while applying brakes as required. If the engine starts, maintain throttle at 1700 RPM for two minutes before shutting down and inspecting. If it does not start, follow the procedure to secure the engine and evacuate the aircraft.
Engine Failure in Cruise
During cruise, if engine failure occurs, maintain an airspeed of 85 MPH, turn on carburetor heat, switch fuel tanks, and activate the fuel pump. If no fire is detected, attempt to restart the engine and prepare for a possible emergency landing.
Electrical Fire
In case of an electrical fire, the master switch should be turned off, cabin air and heat closed, and the fire extinguisher used. The pilot should land as soon as practical.
Low Oil Pressure
If low oil pressure is indicated, check the oil temperature. If the temperature is normal, land as soon as practical. If the temperature is high, reduce power to the minimum required and land as soon as possible.
