Models Affected

The bulletin applies to several models, including the PA-28-140 Cherokee, PA-28-150/160/180 Cherokee, PA-28R-180 Cherokee Arrow, and PA-28R-200 Cherokee Arrow. Specific serial numbers for each model are listed, indicating which aircraft require compliance with this bulletin.

Compliance Time

Compliance with the bulletin should occur during the next scheduled maintenance event, but not to exceed 25 hours of time in service. This ensures that the modifications are made in a timely manner to enhance safety.

Instructions for Modification

The bulletin provides detailed instructions for the replacement of the fuel selector valve cover, which is necessary to prevent accidental selection of the 'OFF' position. Two kits are mentioned: Piper P/N 760-545 and Piper P/N 760-546, each with specific instructions for installation.

Materials Required

For compliance, aircraft owners will need to acquire the appropriate fuel selector valve cover replacement kit (either P/N 760-545 or P/N 760-546) along with an air vent flange kit. The bulletin notes that the existing air vent cup can be reused unless it shows significant wear.

Availability of Parts

Parts required for compliance with this Service Bulletin can be obtained through authorized Piper service facilities. It is recommended to contact these facilities to ensure timely access to the necessary components.

Safety notes

  • Failure to comply with this bulletin may result in inadvertent fuel system mismanagement, leading to power interruption or engine stoppage.
