Page 1 of 2 R22 SERVICE BULLETIN SB-118B (supersedes R22 SB-118A) R44 SERVICE BULLETIN SB-107B (supersedes R44 SB-107A) DATE: 30 June 2021 REV B: 15 July 2021 TO: R22-series and R44-series Owners, Operators, and Maintenance Personnel SUBJECT: Fire Extinguisher Removal EFFECTIVITY: R22-series and R44-series helicopters with factory-installed fire extinguisher mounted forward of left seat tail rotor pedals (refer to Figure 1). TIME OF COMPLIANCE: Within next 100 flight hours or by 31 October 2021, whichever occurs first. BACKGROUND: RHC has received reports of fire extinguishers either leaking charge or ejecting the top and damaging the windshield. The problems are suspected to be heat related. This bulletin requires removing factory-installed fire extinguishers mounted forward of left seat tail rotor pedals (refer to Figure 1). Earlier versions of this bulletin required relocating the extinguisher; revision B of this bulletin requires removal only. Kits to relocate and reinstall extinguisher are available and may be purchased at operator’s discretion. (OVER) FIGURE 1 R22 SB-118B R44 SB-107B Page 2 of 2 COMPLIANCE PROCEDURE: 1. Remove fire extinguisher. 2. Some extinguishers are held in a strap and pocket assembly and some use a metal mounting bracket with clamp. For bracket mounts, bracket must also be removed. Ensure battery switch is off and pull all circuit breakers. Open console assembly, remove hardware securing bracket to console, and remove bracket. Retain bracket if intending to relocate and reinstall extinguisher. Reinstall hardware with screw heads outboard and verify security. Close and secure console. Push in circuit breakers. 3.
