This document serves as an Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS) for the Garmin GDL 82 ADS-B UAT Transmitter as installed in the Mooney M20D Master. It provides essential information regarding the installation, operation, and compliance of the GDL 82 system with FAA regulations. The AFMS is intended for pilots and maintenance personnel to ensure proper use and understanding of the GDL 82, including its capabilities, limitations, and emergency procedures. • The maximum operating altitude for aircraft with ADS-B Out UAT equipment is 18,000 feet MSL.
• The GDL 82 operates automatically once powered on, requiring no pilot intervention under normal conditions.
• In case of electrical power loss, pilots should consider turning off the GDL 82 to preserve essential avionics.
• The ADS-B OUT FAIL annunciator indicates when the GDL 82 is not transmitting a valid ADS-B OUT message.
