4. Policy. DOI pilots supporting interagency fire incidents shall: A. Be authorized by their respective bureau to provide such support.

B. Meet the pilot qualification requirements of 351 DM 3.3 - Vendor Pilot Qualifications.

C. Incidental Pilots must also have a Letter of Authorization (see 351 DM 3.2B) issued by at least the regional/state office in coordination with the bureau’s national aviation manager.

The letter must include a description of pilot duties and restrictions to include any special-use requirements.

D. Comply with all requirements of 351 DM 3.1, 351 DM 3.4, 351 DM 3.5 and any other portions of the Departmental Manual applicable to DOI pilots, including pilot carding for authorized missions.
