FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION Effective Date: Air Traffic Organization Policy June 19, 2026 Cancellation Date: December 24 2026 SUBJ : Center Weather Service Unit Pre - Duty Weather Briefing Applicability 1. Purpose of this Notice. This Notice revises FAA Order JO 7210.3, Facility Operation and Administration, subparagraph 2–2–4b responsive to pre-duty weather briefing requirements specific to David J. Hurley air traffic control system command center (ATCSCC) operational personnel.

2. Audience. This notice applies to the following Air Traffic Organization (ATO) service units: Air Traffic Services, System Operations Services, Mission Support Services, Safety, and all associated air traffic facilities.

4. Background. On October 12, 2017, FAA Order JO 7210.3, Facility Operation and Administration, introduced a requirement that operational personnel review and listen to a recorded Center Weather Service Unit (CWSU) briefing prior to working the first operational position of the day. This language was not inclusive of System Operations Services’ David J.

Hurley Air Traffic Control System Command Center (AJR-11). AJR-11 has determined recorded CWSU weather briefings are not necessary given the unique operational characteristics of the Command Center, which include National Weather Service meteorologists on staff and continuous access to real-time weather data and trends.

5. Procedures/Action. Amend FAA Order JO 7210.3 by changing the following paragraph to read as follows: 2–2–4. DUTY FAMILIARIZATION AND THE TRANSFER OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITY Title through subparagraph a, No Change.

b. All operational personnel, with the exception of Flight Service Specialists and those assigned to the David J. Hurley Air Traffic Control System Command Center, prior to working their first control position of the duty day, must view and listen to the recorded Center Weather Service Unit (CWSU) briefing, when available.
