N416WK Cessna A-37B “Dragonfly” Project

Description

This is a restoration project for an interesting and rare American attack aircraft. A lot of work has already been done. The fuselage, wings, tail, and control surfaces have been stripped of paint and have had minor repairs. One wing assembly has been rebuilt, including reskinning the bottom, repairing the leading edge, repairing the flaps, replacing half of the main spar, and installing new fuel tanks and hoses. One main gear assembly has been rebuilt with replacement parts. The other main gear and wing need similar work. The nose gear needs to be rebuilt. The control surfaces have been repaired and rebuilt. The original engines are included but not usable. A pair of civil version engines are also included, but need to be returned to service. Firewall forward parts are included. Two demilled fuselages and one wing are included for parts. The left aileron, right wing, and flight controls are in progress of restoration. Additional work is in process by Code One Aviation. The cockpits are complete and stock. The canopy is in good condition. Ejection seats are included. A set of wing pylons and some extra parts are included. Some stands and cradles are included. Aircraft manuals and microfiche are included. The A-37 was an updated version of the Cessna T-37 trainer with stronger wings, pylons, larger fuel tanks, a machine gun, better avionics, tougher landing gear, and GE engines. This aircraft was formerly operated by the US Air Force and then the Vietnamese AF. It was illegally imported into the USA via Canada and seized by US customs in 1989. It was then given to a museum, from which the current owner purchased it. Customs provided a full release on the aircraft enabling civilian ownership. The aircraft is located in Southern IL area.
