The EC145 is Eurocopter's latest medium twin-engine multi-purpose helicopter in the 3-4 ton class. It combines Eurocopter's newest designs, like advanced cockpit design, avionics, and electrical systems, with the strong and proven design of the BK117. It is powered by 2 Turbomeca ARRIEL 1E2 engines. The standard setup has a modern MEGHAS glass cockpit, with an optional IFR configuration with digital autopilot for single and dual pilot use, and can fly for almost four hours. The cabin can seat 1 or 2 pilots and 8 or 9 passengers. The large sliding doors make it easy for passengers to get on and off, and the rear clamshell doors make loading, unloading, and storing baggage easy. Other safety features include energy-absorbing fuselage and seating, as well as crash-resistant fuel tanks.
