Description

This is a nicely upgraded 180 hp Penn Yan Superhawk 172. It has a gross weight increase to 2,550 lbs and a useful load of over 1,000 lbs. The plane has flown a total of 8,367 hours with 677 hours since the engine was overhauled. The panel has been upgraded with a Garmin GTN 650 GPS/nav/comm, Garmin G5 attitude indicator, Garmin GTX 345 ADS-B In/Out transponder, JPI engine analyzer, and JPI fuel flow. Other upgrades include Stene Aviation’s Sportsman STOL leading edge cuff, LED exterior lighting, USB outlet, and a 406 MHz ELT. This aircraft was delivered to Embry-Riddle in 1974 and was used there for five years and 5,000 hours. It then became a Midwestern airplane in the early 1980s. More recently, the airplane was used for aerial survey work and has camera ports. The paint is rated 7/10 with good gloss. It has the original interior with shoulder harnesses. The last annual inspection was in March 2025, and IFR certifications were completed in June 2024.
