Description

Model Guide About the Cirrus SR22 The Cirrus SR22 has been the best-selling single-engine piston airplane of the last two decades. It is a four- or five-seat composite cruiser with a 310-horsepower Continental six-cylinder engine, side-stick controls and the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) as standard. Turbocharged versions (the SR22T) are popular with owners who fly high over mountains or want more speed at altitude. Each generation changed what you get for the money. The G3 brought a new wing and better useful load, and from 2008 most aircraft have the Garmin-based Cirrus Perspective flight deck in place of the earlier Avidyne panel. The G5 raised the maximum takeoff weight, the G6 added the Perspective+ avionics, and the G7 brought a new touchscreen cockpit and interior. What to Check When Buying a Used Cirrus SR22 CAPS parachute repack and rocket motor replacement dates: both are due on a ten-year cycle and are a significant cost. Engine hours since overhaul, compression and oil analysis trends; for turbo models, the turbo and exhaust system. Avionics: Avidyne or Perspective, software and database status, and whether ADS-B and WAAS are installed. Composite airframe condition, any damage history, and paint or trim repairs. Whether the aircraft has been maintained at a Cirrus service center. See all Cirrus SR22 listings and buying guidance. Thinking about buying or selling one?
