REASON Several in-service incidents were reported to AH concerning degradation of the intermediate tail drive shafts support on the H130 equipped with a new tail boom post ECP 079809 featuring a new tail drive shaft assembly with a single bearing. The damage consists of loose/failed rivets on the bearing support, in some limited cases occurrence of cracks in the supporting structure and occasional wear of the splines in the connection between the two drive shafts. AH had initiated extensive investigations and identified the root cause of these events. As a corrective measure, the main objective of this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN is to replace the current tail boom rear drive shaft by a new rear drive shaft with an improved geometry. The technical data or instructions contained in this ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN refer to the ECP EC07.90006. 2. DESCRIPTION This ALERT SERVICE BULLETIN provides the instruction to the replacement of the tail boom rear drive shaft. 3. CONFIGURATION DEFINITION Not applicable. 4. APPROVAL The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of the Design Organization Approval ref. EASA 21J.700. For helicopters operated outside the territories regulated by the EASA, the application of this document is subject to validation provided by the responsible aviation authority of the state of registry. 5.
