DESCRIPTION MODELS AFFECTED: A-1C-180 and A-1C-200 including S/N 3036, 3048, 3050, and up (with fuselage 38001-501) which have a modified fuselage with a larger door. Husky A-1C aircraft equipped with Lycoming 0-360-AlP (180 HP) engine or Lycoming I0-360-A1D6 (200 HP) engine, and any type approved propeller are eligible for flight with the upper and lower doors open up to VNE, per Note 24 of Type Certificate Data Sheet, A22NM, Revision 22. No structural modification is required for this change in operating procedures. Read through this Service Letter thoroughly before performing any work. AIRCRAFT MODIFICATIONS Remove any placard in the aircraft stating that flight with doors open is prohibited. This placard is attached to the lower door: Also, remove Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS) document #SII4000DE-A from the primary AFM. 3. INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODIFICATION 1) Lightly warm the placard to be removed with a heat gun. 2) Scrape/lift the placard with a plastic spatula or fingernail beginning at one corner, being careful not to damage the metal surface. Continue until removed. 3) Remove any residual glue with a citrus based adhesive remover or rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth. 4) Document the modification a. in the aircraft log book and, b. submit the Compliance Letter included on page 4. 5) Remove AFMS #SII4000DE-A. NOTE The modifications described here may be performed by a government authorized repairperson or may be performed by the aircraft owner/operator. It is the responsibility of the owner/operator to ensure that the work is documented in the aircraft log book and that the compliance letter in Appendix A of this Service Letter is submitted.
