Preflight Inspection

The preflight inspection is critical for ensuring the aircraft is safe for flight. Pilots should check fuel levels, oil levels, control surfaces, and overall aircraft condition. Specific checks include verifying that fuel tanks are filled to the required levels and that there are no visible leaks.

Engine Start Procedures

To start the engine, ensure the mixture is set to rich, the throttle is at idle, and the ignition switch is in the 'both' position. Engage the starter and monitor engine gauges for proper readings during startup.

Takeoff Procedures

During takeoff, ensure the flaps are set to the appropriate position, typically 10 degrees for a standard takeoff. Maintain a takeoff speed of approximately 60 knots and ensure a clear runway before initiating the takeoff roll.

Emergency Procedures

In the event of an engine failure during takeoff, maintain control of the aircraft and attempt to land straight ahead. If an emergency landing is necessary, prioritize finding a suitable landing area.

Landing Procedures

For landing, configure the aircraft with flaps as required and maintain a final approach speed of approximately 65 knots. Ensure the landing gear is down and locked before crossing the runway threshold.

Safety notes

  • Always check fuel and oil levels before flight.
  • Monitor engine gauges closely during startup and flight.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is onboard and functional.
