Installation Instructions
The installation process involves several key steps, including aiming the lights, removing existing components, and mounting the new ballast in the forward baggage compartment. The document details how to prepare the mounting area, install the ballast, and connect the wiring to ensure proper functionality of the BOOM BEAM system. Specific instructions are provided for securing the ballast and light housing, as well as for aiming the lights to achieve optimal performance.
Maintenance Requirements
The document emphasizes the importance of including the BOOM BEAM maintenance information in the aircraft's Maintenance Manual. It outlines scheduled maintenance tasks, such as inspecting the mechanical and electrical integrity of the equipment, checking fasteners and cable ties, and ensuring the wiring harnesses are in good condition. Regular inspections are crucial for maintaining safety and performance.
Weight and Balance Information
The weight of the ballast varies depending on the installation: the 35W ballast weighs 0.62 pounds, while the 60W ballast weighs 0.86 pounds. This information is essential for pilots and maintenance personnel to ensure that the aircraft's weight and balance remain within acceptable limits after installation.
Electrical Load Analysis
The electrical load analysis provides critical data on the power consumption of the BOOM BEAM installation. The 35W ballast draws a maximum of 4.1 amperes at startup and 1.65 amperes at steady state. In contrast, the 60W ballast draws 5.9 amperes at startup and 2.4 amperes at steady state. This information is vital for understanding the electrical demands of the new lighting system.
Safety notes
- Ensure all electrical connections are secure and insulated to prevent shorts.
- Follow all installation steps carefully to avoid improper mounting or aiming of lights.
