COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Page 1 of 2 AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Requirement: If not previously accomplished, rework the extended pitot tube by installation of Robertson Kit No. 14-118-100 in accordance with Robertson modification instructions No 14-118-10 dated 23 January 1975. Note 2: The requirements of this Directive may have been accomplished prior to the aircraft’s arrival in Australia and the aircraft’s maintenance records may indicate compliance with FAA AD 75-09-05, this is considered acceptable for compliance with this Directive. Note 3: FAA AD 75-09-05 Amdt 39-2177 refers. Compliance: Within 100 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 5 June 2008. The FAA AD was originally to prevent the possibility of unreliable airspeed indications due to ice formation in the pitot system. Whilst CASA acknowledges that there have been no incidents of a similar nature reported in Australia and that only one of the affected aeroplanes is currently on the Australian register, CASA is required to publish State of design ADs which may affect Australian aircraft.
