Overview

This document provides detailed instructions for the installation of the Sensenich S72CKS6 propeller on Cessna 152 and Reims Aviation Cessna 152 aircraft. It outlines the necessary steps for propeller removal and installation, as well as specific weight and balance considerations associated with the propeller change. The document is intended for maintenance personnel and pilots who need to understand the implications of propeller replacement on aircraft performance and compliance with FAA regulations. It includes critical information about propeller specifications, installation procedures, and required documentation for alterations made to the aircraft.

  • Sensenich S72CKS6 propeller installation requires original bolts if the previous propeller was also a Sensenich 72CKS6.
  • The Sensenich 72CK propeller weighs 28.4 lbs and has an arm of -36.5 inches.
  • Torque propeller attaching bolts to 280-300 in-lb.
  • Propeller diameter must be between 70 and 72 inches; static RPM limits are 2100-2275 RPM.
  • For aircraft S/N 152-82032 and above, a FAA approved Flight Manual Supplement is required.

Propeller Installation Instructions

The document details the steps for removing the existing propeller and installing the Sensenich S72CKS6 propeller. It specifies the use of original attaching bolts and spinner, provided the original propeller was a Sensenich 72CKS6. The installation process includes tightening the propeller attaching bolts to a torque of 280 to 300 in-lb and securing the spinner dome.

Weight and Balance Considerations

It states that a revision of the aircraft's weight and balance is not necessary when replacing a Sensenich propeller. However, if a McCauley fixed pitch propeller is being replaced, the weight and balance must be recalculated. The Sensenich 72CK propeller weighs 28.4 lbs with an arm of -36.5 inches.

Flight Manual Supplement Requirements

The document emphasizes that for all aircraft models, specific propeller limits must be displayed in the cockpit. These include a propeller diameter between 70 and 72 inches, static RPM limits between 2100 and 2275, and a maximum RPM of 2440 except during takeoff and climb.

Safety notes

  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations when altering propeller specifications.
  • Failure to update weight and balance after changing to a McCauley propeller may lead to safety issues.
