A wing strut clamp, an intermediate mounting block, a saddle and two adjustable ring clamps which cradle the XCAM Pod. 1.2 XCAM POD The XCAM-B Pod is 5.8in diameter formed from a glass-filled nylon shell created from 3D printing. The pod shell contains internal support structure that secures two DSLR cameras and some support electronics. The two cameras are secured together using two 1/16in thick AL 6061 bulkheads that fit exactly within the circular pod shell. 1.3 ATTACHMENT TO STARBOARD WING STRUT The wing strut clamp and associated neoprene gasket is secured using three hex head 3/4in long ¼-28 bolts. These bolts secure the clamp to the wing strut, There is an additional 1/8in thick rubber gasket between the clamp bolts. The wing strut clamp attaches to the intermediate mounting block t using six truss head 1/2in #10-32 bolts. The Saddle is attached to the intermediate mounting block using three 3/4in #10-32 socket head bolts. Two Stainless steel metal bands are used to secure the XCAM-B Pod to the saddle. The 3/4in wide bands go around the saddle as well as the XCAM-B pod and a 1/4in bolt closes the clamp band to secure the XCAM-B pod to the saddle. One band goes around the centre of the XCAM- J & C Engineering Services Ltd AIRCRAFT FLIGHT MANUAL SUPPLEMENT Report No. Issue JC/FMS/5329 1.1 Sheet 4 of 6 JC/DOC/340 ISSUE 1.5 B pod, encircling the internal metal bulkhead to which the cameras are attached. The second band circles the pod towards the aft end of the XCAM-B pod. The three metal components can be rotated relative to each other in order to adjust XCAM Pod to a true vertical and horizontal orientation accounting for the wing strut angle and backward sweep. The picture below shows the XCAM Pod installed with the wire routed through the lower door seal.
