Gulfstream TRANSMITTAL SHEET December 20, 2010 Transmittal Page 1 This sheet transmits Revision A, dated December 20, 2010, to Gulfstream V Alert Customer Bulletin (ACB) 30, dated December 6, 2010, titled Fire Protection (ATA 26), Inspection – Third Engine Fire Bottle Installation. Reason for Revision Planning Information – Description Statement Updated: The Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS) number called out in the customer bulletin is incorrect. Is; GC51 628M001, should be CE51 628M001. The correct AFMS was attached to the original issue of this alert customer bulletin, only the number call-out in the text was incorrect. Compliance Statement Updated: Operators who have previously complied with the original version of ACB 30 may report this revision as “Previously complied with”. Additionally, operators with mounted spare engine fire bottle installations have the option to retain the mounted spares in service by incorporating the attached AFMS. References updated: Changed AFMS number GC51 628M001 to CE51 628M001. Accomplishment Instructions – Step III.B. is updated: Change AFMS number GC51 628M001 to CE51 628M001. Clarifies options for operators with mounted engine fire bottle spares to either remove the spare bottle with no APU limitations or retain the mounted spare in service by incorporating the AFMS. This is a REVISION of Gulfstream V Alert Customer Bulletin 30. This alert customer bulletin revision cancels and supersedes ACB 30. Aircraft operators who have previously complied with ACB 30 are in compliance with this revision and should return the service reply cards marked “Previously complied with.” Note: Operators who have previously complied with Part II of ACB 30 by removing their mounted engine fire bottle spares may reinstall them by incorporating the attached AFMS and reporting compliance with Part II of this alert customer bulletin revision. Planning Information: A. Effectivity: All GV aircraft B. Reason: Some GV aircraft have been outfitted with a third engine fire extinguisher bottle installed as either a dedicated Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) fire extinguisher bottle by Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST01822AT-D (Installation of an APU Fire Bottle), or as a mounted engine fire bottle spare under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval means other than this STC. Gulfstream has determined that current installation of the third fire extinguisher bottle is located within the APU rotor burst fragment zone. This configuration does not meet the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 14, 25.901, 903 and Advisory Circular (AC) 20-128A. C. Description: This alert customer bulletin is divided into two parts: Part I is a one-time action to inspect for, and report, the installation of a third engine fire extinguisher bottle. Part II, if applicable, is a one-time action to incorporate Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS) CE51 628M001 into the Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) to provide limitations for APU operation. Operators have the option to remove any mounted spare fire bottles (not APU dedicated) and avoid the incorporation of APU limitations. D. Compliance: Compliance with this alert customer bulletin revision is required with 21 days of the release date of the original alert customer bulletin dated December 6, 2010. Operators who have previously complied with ACB 30 may report this alert customer bulletin as “Previously complied with”. Operators who have previously removed their mounted spare engine fire bottles have the option to reinstall them by complying with Part II of this alert customer bulletin and incorporating the AFMS as directed. E. Approval: This modification is classified as Minor, and is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). F. Manpower: Part I - 0.5 man-hour Part II (if applicable) - 1.0 man-hour G.
