Engine Failure Before Rotation

In the event of an engine failure before rotation, the pilot should set the power lever to idle and apply brakes as required. If there is insufficient runway for a safe stop, the condition lever should be moved to cut-off/feather, the battery switch turned off, and the firewall fuel shutoff valve pulled off.

Engine Failure Immediately After Take-Off

If an engine failure occurs immediately after take-off, maintain an airspeed of 100 KIAS and keep the landing gear down. The power lever should be set to idle, and the condition lever moved to cut-off/feather. If time allows, extend the flaps to 36° and aim for an airspeed of 85 KIAS before shutting off the battery and pulling the firewall fuel shutoff valve.

Engine Failure In Flight

In-flight engine failure requires the pilot to oxygen as needed and select the MIC SEL switch to MSK. Maintain an airspeed of 108 KIAS, set the power lever to idle, and move the condition lever to cut-off/feather. Verify that the propeller is feathered and check remaining fuel.

Oil Temperature and Pressure Procedures

For high oil temperature indications, reduce power and land as soon as possible. If oil pressure is low, reduce power to a maximum of 1100 ft-lb of torque and land as soon as practical. If oil pressure is high, land as soon as possible.

Emergency Descent Procedures

In an emergency descent, the autopilot should be disengaged, and the power lever set to the desired torque. The descent should be conducted while monitoring altimeters and cabin climate controls.
