a. The FAA, under JSS Agreement NAT-614, has agreed to furnish directly, or by contract supplies, equipment and services which the United States Air Force (USAF) requires and has funds available for reimbursable payment. Under this program, the FAA will construct foundations, grounding systems, and underground utilities for hfr towers at ARSR-3 facilities in accordance with Drawing Series D-5981 and D-5988. The USAF will erect the hfr towers which include a structural steel framework, steel decks, and sheet metal siding. The FAA will then make improvements to the towers in accordance with the aforementioned designs to provide operational and equipment spaces. These imprQvements include installation of partitions, ceilings, floors, thermal insulation, and plumbing, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and electrical systems. Funding for accomplishment of the projects will be through the Radar/Automation Engineering Division, AAF-300, Airway Facilities Service, The regions shall submit cost estimates to AAF-300 who will arrange for funding from USAF and will then issue project authorizations for each project.
b. The drawing titles use the USAF designation of BFR-AB 563 for the 25-foot tower in which the improvements will be made. When a 50-foot hfr tower is installed, the AB 563 is installed at the top of the tower and AB 305 is installed as the bottom 25 feet of the tower.
