INFORMATION LETTER 407-21-123 26 February 2021 TO: All owners and operators of Model 407 helicopters SUBJECT: GARMIN G1000H NXi Software 006-B1237-23 Release Bell has introduced a new Garmin software version to the 407 model for helicopter serial numbers 54304, 54567, and 54805 through 54856. This Information Letter is to inform operators of the software availability, some of the improvements and kit compatibility incorporated, as well as advising of the recent revision of the 407-MM Maintenance Manual Chapter 95 procedures for software installation. Software 006-B1237-23 will be installed on helicopter serial numbers 54857 and subsequent prior to delivery. Helicopters prior to 54857 that have been delivered, or will be delivered, with the Bell Single Pilot IFR Kit or Bell 3 rd Axis Automatic Flight Control System Kit installed will have software 006-B1237-23 installed at delivery. The Garmin software 006-B1237-23 provides the following changes: • Added options for the Bell Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) 3rd Axis (407-706-067) Kit. • Added provisioning for the Single Pilot IFR Kit configuration (STC SR11241DS). o Added CAS Messaging for the GEN2 circuit. • Fixed minor issues with the software including the following: o Engine Ng RPM exceedance upper limit changed to 106.5% and lower limit to 105.1%. o The Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) will be disabled when combined with Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) to prevent overlap. o Fuel pressure indication will now indicate 0 (zero), in lieu of the current red X, when pressure is at 0 (zero). o Lighting curves for the General Display Units (GDU) have been updated. IL 407-21-123 Page 2 of 2 Approved for public release. o The Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) center of gravity (CG) offset values set for improved accuracy of rate outputs. The software can be downloaded from the www.mybell.com Technical Publications portal under 407GXi and by selecting the “Software Downloads” icon at the bottom of the page. Instructions to install the software onto an SD card are found in the 407-MM Maintenance Manual in DMC-407-A-95-64-08-06A-090A-A. Instructions to install the software to the Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Multi-Function Display (MFD) are found in the 407-MM Maintenance Manual in DMC-407-A-95-64-08-08A-090A-A.
