SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
CESSNA 210N · Airworthiness Directives
Overview
This document is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia, specifically addressing the Cessna 210 series aircraft, including the T210L, T210M, T210N, and P210N models. The directive focuses on the operation and inspection of Slick Pressurized Magnetos model 6220 and 6224. It mandates a revision of the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) to include specific procedures for conducting magneto checks before takeoff. The directive outlines compliance requirements and background information regarding the necessity of these checks to ensure safe operation of the aircraft.
- Perform a magneto check at 1,700 RPM before takeoff.
- RPM drop should not exceed 150 RPM on either magneto.
- Differential RPM between magnetos should not exceed 50 RPM.
- Compliance is required within 100 hours TIS after April 20, 1989.
- Magnetos exceeding limits must be inspected and recorded in the maintenance release.

Applicability
This Airworthiness Directive applies to all Cessna T210L, T210M, T210N, and P210N series aircraft that are equipped with Slick Pressurized Magnetos models 6220 or 6224.
Requirement
Pilots are required to perform a magneto check at 1,700 RPM before takeoff. The procedure involves switching the ignition to the R position, noting the RPM, then switching to BOTH, and finally to the L position, again noting the RPM. The acceptable RPM drop should not exceed 150 RPM on either magneto, and the differential should not be greater than 50 RPM.
Compliance
Compliance with this directive is required within 100 hours of time in service after April 20, 1989, and must be done concurrently with AD/CESSNA 210/62.
Background
The directive emphasizes the importance of the Before Takeoff magneto check. If the RPM drop exceeds the specified limits, the magnetos must be declared unserviceable and inspected as per the requirements of AD/CESSNA 210/62.
Safety notes
- If magneto check exceeds limits, declare magnetos unserviceable and inspect.

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Cessna 210 Series Aeroplanes AD/CESSNA 210/63 Slick Pressurized Magnetos - Flight Manual 4/89 Applicability: All Cessna T210L, T210M, T210N, and P210N series aircraft fitted with Slick Pressurized Magnetos model 6220 or 6224. Requirement: 1. Revise the AFM by adding the following: “BEFORE TAKEOFF" Perform a magneto check of each engine at 1,700 RPM as follows: Move ignition switch first to R position and note RPM. Next, move switch back to BOTH, to clear the other set of plugs. Then, move switch to the L position, note RPM and return the switch to the BOTH position. RPM drop should not exceed 150 RPM on either magneto or show greater than 50 RPM differential between magnetos. If there is doubt concerning operation of the ignition system, RPM checks at higher engine speed will usually confirm whether a deficiency exists. If the magneto check exceeds either of the above limits, both magnetos must be disassembled and inspected in accordance with requirement 2 of AD/CESSNA 210/62; an entry to this affect is to be made in the maintenance release by the pilot. Note 1: The aforementioned amendment may be accomplished by inserting a copy of this AD into the relevant section of the AFM. Note 2: AD/CESSNA 210/62, FAA AD-25-04, and Teledyne Continental Service Bulletin M88-14 also refer. Compliance: Within 100 hours TIS after 20 April 1989 and concurrent with AD/CESSNA 210/62. Background: The Before Take Off check introduced by this AD requires that any magneto which exceeds the limits specified in the check must be placed unserviceable in the maintenance release by the pilot and subsequently disassembled and inspected in accordance with AD/CESSNA 210/62.
