Caravan SERVICE BULLETIN CAB-33-07 TITLE LIGHTS - LED NAV/ANTI-COLLISION LIGHT WIRING MODIFICATION EFFECTIVITY MODEL SERIAL NUMBERS 208B 208B5000 thru 208B5504, 208B5507 thru 208B5569, 208B5575 thru 208B5603 The equivalent of this service bulletin has been incorporated on production airplanes 208B5604 and On. REASON Field reports indicate that the magnetometer is experiencing Red-X situations. It was found that the Red-X was caused by the LED Nav/Anti-Collision Lights. Removal of the ground shield eliminates the interference with the magnetometer. DESCRIPTION This service bulletin provides parts and instructions to remove a ground shield from the wiring for the LED NAV/Anti-Collision Light. COMPLIANCE RECOMMENDED. This service bulletin should be accomplished at a scheduled maintenance period or inspection. A service bulletin published by Textron Aviation may be recorded as completed in an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied: 1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intent therein. 2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service bulletin kit. Only with written authorization from Textron Aviation can substitute parts or rebuilt parts be used to replace new parts. 3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service bulletin only as approved and published. 4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service bulletin only to aircraft serial numbers identified in the Effectivity section of the bulletin. 5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations. No individual or corporate organization other than Textron Aviation is authorized to make or apply any changes to a Textron Aviation-issued service bulletin, service letter, or flight manual supplement without prior written consent from Textron Aviation. Refer to www.txtavsupport.com. PUBLICATIONS AFFECTED None ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Prepare the airplane for maintenance. A. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded. B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position. C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane. (1) Disconnect external electrical power. (2) Disconnect the airplane battery. D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them. 2. Remove the LED NAV/Anti-Collision Light (FL003 Left, FR003 Right). (Refer to the Model 208/208B Maintenance Manual, Chapter 33, LED NAV/Anti-Collision Lights - Removal/Installation.) 3. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Remove the S2562-2-15.00 Tubing between PL012 (Left), PR012 (Right) Electrical Connectors and the S2034-1 Mount. Caravan SERVICE BULLETIN CAB-33-07 4. (Refer to Figure 1, View A-A.) Remove the terminal ends from the GL001 (Left) and GR001 (Right) Ground Studs on the 2622195-1 (Left), 2622195-2 (Right) Spar Assemblies. A. Install the removed hardware on the ground studs and tighten. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the ground stud. However; if the ground stud is removed, any bare metal must be treated with color chemical film (Alodine) and primer. 5. Cut the shielded wire to remove the terminal end that was removed from the GL001 (Left), GR001 (Right) Ground Studs. 6. Install the TC4001 End Cap on the end of the shielded wire. (Refer to the Model 208/208B Maintenance Manual, Chapter 20, Bonding and Grounding - Maintenance Practices.) A. Heat shrink the TC4001 End Cap until it has shrunk firmly around the shielded wire. CAUTION: Protect adjacent areas from heat as the heat gun produces in excess of 250°F airflow. 7. (Refer to Figure 2, Detail A.) Install the S2562-2-15.00 Tubing between PL012 (Left), PR012 (Right) Electrical Connectors and the S2034-1 Mount. 8. Install the LED NAV/Anti-Collision Light (FL003 Left, FR003 Right). (Refer to the Model 208/208B Maintenance Manual, Chapter 33, LED NAV/Anti-Collision Lights - Removal/Installation.) 9. Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery. 10. Make an entry in the airplane logbook that states compliance and method of compliance with this service document.
