TP 7245E 1 of 1 AD Number: CF-2024-02 A IR W O R T H IN E S S D IR E C T IV E This Airworthiness Directive (AD) is issued pursuant to Canadian Aviation Regulation (CAR) 521.427. No person shall conduct a take-off or permit a take-off to be conducted in an aircraft that is in their legal custody and control, unless the requirements of CAR 605.84 pertaining to ADs are met. Standard 625 - Aircraft Equipment and Maintenance Standards Appendix H provides information concerning alternative means of compliance (AMOC) with ADs. Number: CF-2024-02 ATA: 55 Effective Date: 26 January 2024 Type Certificate: A-273 Subject: Stabilizers – Horizontal Stabilizer – Incorrect Torque Specified for Attachment Bolts Applicability: Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc. model DA 62 aeroplanes, serial numbers 62.C001 through 62.C044 and 62.008 through 62.203. Compliance: As indicated below, unless already accomplished. Background: The DA 62 Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) initially specified standard torque values for the horizontal stabilizer attachment bolts. The bolts were designed to require a higher torque value, and as such, the AMM was later updated to the correct special value. During the years when the AMM specified the incorrect torque value, there might have been occurrences where the removal of the horizontal stabilizer attachment bolts was required and the lower torque value was used for the installation of the bolts. The use of the lower torque value during installation could result in the loss of structural integrity and lead to the separation of the horizontal stabilizer and loss of control of the aeroplane. Corrective Actions: Within 30 days or 30 hours air time, whichever occurs later, review the aircraft technical records and torque all 16 attachment bolts of the horizontal stabilizer as required, in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Mandatory Service Bulletin 62-052 Revision 0 dated 18 September 2023, or later revisions approved by the Chief, Continuing Airworthiness, Transport Canada.
