480 MRGB Flushing Procedure, July 13, 2016 Page 1 480 MRGB flushing procedures 11-35 (D). MRGB Flushing Procedures 1) Install the ground handling wheels and lower them. 2) Set 1.5 inch blocks under the forward skid shoes and raise the left side wheel. 3) Remove the upper plenum in accordance with Section 13-28 in the TH-28/480 Maintenance Manual. 4) Drain the oil from the gearbox in accordance with section 4-13 in the Enstrom TH-28/480 Maintenance Manual. (The oil may be drained by removing the filter). 5) Remove the oil filter from the gearbox. 6) Remove the pinion inspection plate from the transmission. 7) Inspect the gears IAW SIL T-064, 6.1 (C). 8) Use a syphon sprayer with kerosene, mineral spirits or equivalent oil based solvent to spray down the interior of the gearbox. Direct the aim of the sprayer around the inside of the gearbox and the ring gear and carrier while turning the gearbox. a) The objective is to introduce sufficient volume of solvent to flush any debris out of the gearbox and drain it out the oil filter housing. 9) Allow the MRGB to drain completely. 10) Reinstall the MRGB oil filter and hand tighten. 11) Add 4 qts of the gear lube that is currently being used in the gearbox. 12) Rotate the gearbox (Main rotor) by hand 7-10 revolutions. 13) Remove the oil filter and drain the gearbox while rotating the gearbox. 14) Allow gearbox to drain completely. 15) Inspect and clean the chip plug. 16) Install and secure the pinion cover plate in accordance with SIL T-064 Section 6.1 (E). 17) Install a new oil filter in accordance with section 4-14 in the TH-28/480 maintenance manual. 18) Service the gearbox in accordance with section 4-12 in the TH-28/480 maintenance manual. 19) Place the left side ground handling wheel in the down positon and remove the blocks from under the forward skid plates. 20) Position the wheels in the up position and remove them as required. 21) Install the upper plenum in accordance with section 13-31 of the MM.
