The Pilatus PC-12 NGX Advanced Cockpit Environment powered by Honeywell Epic 2.0 Avionics ELEVATING THE WORLD’S GREATEST SINGLE The Honeywell digital auto-throttle system on the PC-12 NGX is the first to be offered as fully integrated with a FADEC-controlled engine and propeller on a single-pilot business turboprop. The auto-throttle reduces pilot workload and enhances safety by working together with the FADEC to ensure full engine torque and temperature protection in all flight regimes. It also provides safety benefits by making it less likely a pilot will fail to maintain correct speed in descent or climb and level off situations. With safety as top priority, the PC-12 NGX includes an array of new features like tactile feedback that alerts pilots when approaching unusual attitudes, an Emergency Descent Mode (EDM) that descends the aircraft to lower altitudes Leveraging 100 years of advanced avionics leadership with the Swiss attention to detail and expertise of Pilatus engineers, together we designed an unmatched high-end cockpit. The next-generation Honeywell Epic 2.0 cockpit technology, on which the Pilatus PC-12 NGX is based, has flown more than 22 million hours over the most demanding global routes in a wide variety of high-end, large-cabin jet aircraft. POWERFUL. RELIABLE. FLEXIBLE. even when the pilot may not be able to, and a Crew Alerting System (CAS) that assists the pilot by speeding navigation to the correct checklist using a one-click launch to open. The tools and features on the PG-12 NGX are more advanced than many commercial airliners. The new Pilatus aircraft equipped with Epic 2.0 avionics offers: • Full ADS-B In functionality showing airborne and surface traffic. • Special visual traffic separation capability using ADS-B in (not offered in other single-engine turboprop aircraft) • Enhanced graphical map displays and graphical flight planning • Weather advisories and winds on the vertical situation display and vertical profile WX radar displays on the multi-function display. • Warnings against operations off or approaches to incorrect runways with Honeywell’s SmartLanding® and SmartRunway® technology • Intelli Audio & Voice Playback • Highly detailed 2D airport moving maps • Easy setup with pilot customizable Flightpath guidance for visual approaches to any runway • Performance Monitored Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (PM- CPDLC) NEW TECHNOLOGY MAKING THE WORLD’S GREATEST SINGLE EVEN BETTER AUTO-THROTTLE The Honeywell digital auto-throttle system on the PC-12 NGX is the first of its kind in a single-pilot business turboprop. The auto-throttle reduces pilot workload and enhances safety by ensuring full engine torque and temperature protection in all flight regimes. The system also prevents engine over-torque or over-temp due to a pilot improperly setting thrust during takeoff or climb. TACTILE FEEDBACK With Honeywell’s Tactile Feedback feature, the PC-12 NGX control wheel “bumps” to warn pilots when the aircraft is banked too steeply. When approaching a steep roll angle with the autopilot not engaged, the Tactile Feedback feature activates and returns the aircraft to a normal bank angle. This helps a pilot prevent an irrecoverable roll attitude from developing when low to the ground during a circling instrument approach, a visual approach at night or in low visibility, or when inadvertently overshooting final at an unfamiliar airport. EMERGENCY DESCENT MODE With Honeywell's Emergency Descent Mode feature, using Pilatus aircraft systems, the PC-12 NGX detects a critical cabin altitude and automatically descends, regardless of the pilot’s reaction to the situation and even if the pilot fails to quickly take action. This ensures the pilot and passengers will get to a safe lower altitude under all conditions. TOUCHSCREEN CONTROLLER WITH HAND STABILIZATION Honeywell’s touchscreen avionics controller in the PC-12 NGX optimizes the interface between the aircraft and pilot. The controller reduces workload and improves ease of use by requiring fewer touches and speeding interaction with menus, windows, and data entry boxes. Complementing the touchscreen are gripping edges and surface contours to aid in hand stabilization during turbulence. Unlike other comparable aircraft, the PC- 12 NGX also includes a Cursor Control Device (CCD) that complements the Touchscreen Controller. Located on the center pedestal, the CCD allows fast, precise pilot inputs even in the roughest air. As a result, pilots can select the fastest, most comfortable means for accomplishing the task, regardless of how challenging the conditions or situation.
