Engine Start Procedure Update

The engine start procedure has been updated to include actions to take in the event of a loss of avionics or engine indications.

EPECS Abort Conditions

The EPECS will automatically abort an engine start if ITT exceeds limits, a hung start occurs, no light-off is detected, or the starter switch is pushed during the starting sequence.

Actions on Loss of Indications

In case of loss of avionics/engine indications, the ENGINE switch must be turned OFF and the flight aborted.

Maintenance Reporting

Any loss of avionics/engine indications must be reported to maintenance for ITT exceedance checks.

Normal Engine Start Conditions

If ITT stays within limits, Ng should be stable at 64.5%. If Ng is below 50% and the start is not aborted, the STARTER switch should be pushed momentarily.

Final Checks

After a stable Ng, check engine instruments, GEN 1 and GEN 2, reset fuel, and disconnect external power if used.

TEMPORARY REVISION NO. 31 TO PC-12/47E PILOT'S OPERATING HANDBOOK REPORT NO. 02406 LOSS OF AVIONICS / ENGINE INDICATIONS DURING ENGINE START Loss of avionics / engine indications during engine start EASA Approved Report No: 02406 Issued: July 16, 2025 1 of 2 Section 4 This Temporary Revision changes the engine start procedure for the PC-12/47E aircraft and updates: - Section 4 – Normal Procedures. This Temporary Revision is valid for PC-12/47E aircraft MSN 1720, 2001 and up. The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of the DOA ref. EASA.21J.357. The AFM 02406 TR 31 is EASA approved under EASA Approval Number: 10087600. Approval date: 16.07.2025. Insert this Temporary Revision at the front of the POH. Record the incorporation of this Temporary Revision on the Log of Temporary Revisions. Section 4 NORMAL PROCEDURES 4-5-01 Engine Start (With or Without External Power) Replace the following note: Note The EPECS will automatically abort an engine start if any of the following cases occur: − ITT exceedance − Hung start − No light-off − The starter switch is pushed during the starting sequence. In this event the EPECS will immediately command a 30 second dry motor run, the green STARTER annunciator in the PFD engine window comes on.
