ROBIN DR400/140B · Checklist
Overview
This document outlines the emergency procedures for the Robin DR400/140B aircraft. It includes detailed steps to follow in various emergency situations such as engine failure, engine fire, cabin fire, and electrical malfunctions.
- Engine failure procedures vary based on runway length.
- In-flight engine failure requires specific glide speeds.
- Cabin fire requires maximum ventilation and immediate action.
- Low oil pressure necessitates checking oil temperature and reducing power.
- Icing conditions require carburetor heating and altitude adjustments.
- Electrical power supply malfunctions should be addressed promptly.
- Inadvertent spins require specific throttle and control inputs.
- Loss of elevator control requires stabilization and careful throttle management.

Engine Failure at Takeoff
Procedures differ based on whether there is sufficient runway. Actions include setting mixture to idle cut-off and turning off fuel valve and battery switch.
Engine Fire During Starting
Keep the engine running with fuel valve closed and throttle at full power. If fire continues, turn off magneto and battery switches.
Cabin Fire
Extinguish fire using all means and maximize ventilation. If electrical fumes are present, reduce cabin ventilation and turn off electrical systems.
Low Oil Pressure
Check oil temperature and reduce power if too high. Prepare for landing at the nearest airfield.
Icing
Turn on carburetor heating and pitot heater, and increase power. Plan to land at the nearest airfield.
Inadvertent Spin
Throttle to idle, apply maximum opposite rudder, and keep elevator and ailerons neutral.
Safety notes
- Do not attempt engine restart after an engine fire in flight.
- Land as soon as possible if electrical failure continues.
- In case of loss of throttle control, use mixture leaning to manage power.
- Maintain level flight at 70 knots if elevator control is lost.
- Unlock canopy before landing in emergency situations.
