Cabin Entry Door

The cabin entry door is located on the left side of the aircraft, aft of the wing. In an emergency, pilots can turn the handle to open the door and climb through the cabin to reach the cockpit.

Door Release Mechanism

The door can be released from its hinges using a release lever located on the inside forward frame of the door, allowing for quick access during emergencies.

Pilot's Lap Belt

To unlatch the pilot's lap belt, pull the large metal handle. This is crucial for securing the pilot's safety during flight and for quick exit in emergencies.

Fuel Selector

To turn off the fuel supply, rotate the fuel selector to one of the two off positions. The handle should be parallel to the aircraft's body when done correctly.

Cockpit Windows

Cockpit windows can slide aft but may be taped shut from the inside. To open, press a hand on the window and slide it back.

Magneto and Master Switches

To shut down the aircraft systems, turn off the four magneto switches located on the right side of the throttle quadrant and the master switch on the left side.

Emergency Exit

The right side emergency exit can only be accessed from inside the aircraft. To use it, pull the pin and push out on the window.

Battery Location

The battery is located in the tail section of the aircraft. Access to the battery can be gained through a door at the rear of the cabin.

Emergency Extraction Procedures N9109R Beech-18 To extract the pilot in an emergency situation, turn handle on cabin entry door (left side of aircraft - aft of the wing) and climb through the cabin to cockpit. Emergency Extraction Procedures N9109R Beech-18 Door Location Emergency Extraction Procedures N9109R Beech-18 Door may be released from hinges using the release lever on the inside forward frame of the door Pull large metal handle on pilot's lap belt to unlatch. To secure aircraft, pull large mixture handles and throttles completely aft. Emergency Extraction Procedures N9109R Beech-18 Mixture Handles Throttle Handles To turn off fuel, rotate selector to one of the two off positions. The handle will be parallel to the body of the aircraft if done properly.
