These housings are developed to meet specific OEM requirements for dimensions, suspension mounting and brakes. Many of the most commonly-used housings are referenced in the accompanying parts list along with the OEMs currently specifying them. If the housing being replaced is not listed and replacement is necessary, provide the truck dealer with the following information: a. Information from metal tag. b. Year, made and model of the truck. c. Axle model and ground loading capacity. d. Axle specification number. e. Type of brakes used. 651 Housings These tandem drive axles are mounted in Spicer cast steel axle housings and are fitted with a wide variety of suspension mounting bracketry on the basis of OEM specification. This product improvement will supersede existing Yoke/Slinger Assemblies. Using Oil Seal Driver Kits is reccommended. The charts below show part supersession from "OLD" to "NEW" Yoke/Slinger Assy's and include other information concerning the inter-changeability of the "OLD" and "NEW" parts. Basic Overhaul kits, Bearing kits with Oil Seals and other kits that have the old seals in them will be updated to include the new seals – these are still compatible with the “OLD” Yoke/Slinger assemblies. New Yoke/Slinger Assemblies on Forward Axles must use the Microlip seals at the D-Output and D-Input, as result, the “NEW” Yoke/Slinger kits for Forward Axles will include the Microlip seal. The Rear Axle pinion Yoke/Slinger assemblies will not contain Microlip seals – for Rear Axles you may use the “NEW” Yoke/Slinger assemblies with either the old Triple Lip seal or the new Microlip seals.
