Agusta SR03072NY AW‐139 / AB‐139 Please note prior to installation of the main battery the rotorcraft must be modified per DECA Engineering Drawing 4003983 for battery mounting reinforcements (included with STC). The lead acid battery does not require a temperature sensor so the existing sensor connector will be capped and stowed. Please note prior to installation of the auxiliary battery P/N RG‐407, the rotorcraft must be modified per Leonardo (previously Agusta) Technical Bulletin No. 139‐045, 139‐138 or later approved installation of the 27Ah aux. battery. This Bulletin may or may not already be installed on the rotorcraft. If not, please contact Leonardo for information on how to attain a TB. This STC includes installation plans. Each STC includes two placards (P/N 6228). No materials or kit parts are included as part of this STC. Installation materials and batteries are sold separately. Revision 3 of this STC provides an alternate installation for the main battery in aircraft not suppled with a battery tray. This includes the AW139 Plus (S/N 41501 and on). Please ensure the person responsible for installing this STC reviews these notes in advance of purchase and completes the information required herein. Beechcraft SA01260WI Multiple Models The Concorde VRSLA RG series batteries referenced here conform to the design requirements of 14 CFR Part 23.1353(c) and are direct replacements for the Nickel ‐Cadmium Batteries originally installed in these aircraft. No mechanical or electrical modifications of the aircraft are required to install the Concorde battery except for capping and stowing of the vent tubes on some early aircraft if the K version is selected. The "Battery Charge Current Detector" in the aircraft will operate in the same manner with the VRSLA battery and the "Battery Check At Shutdown" shall be performed in exactly the same manner with the same expected results. The proper operation of this current sensing system depends on the bus voltage being properly adjusted. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE BUSS VOLTAGE be properly set per Beech maintenance manual procedures. Some early and/or military aircraft may have installed a battery temperature system required to satisfy an AD. No battery temperature monitoring or alarm is required with the Concorde VRSLA Battery. Any battery temperature monitoring/alarm system can be removed or deactivated when a Concorde VRSLA battery is installed. The device can simply be removed by reversing the instructions that it was installed under with the proper 337 form being used and the proper notations in the aircraft paperwork. Some battery boxes may have a fitment issue with L Series batteries. The L Series comes standard with a temperature sensor mounting pad and not all battery boxes allow for clearance of the pad. You may remove the cosmetic cover plate & associated hardware on the mounting pad to allow for better fitment. Beechcraft ST00415LA BH.125 Series 1A, 1A/522, 1A/R‐522, 1A/S‐522; Series 3A, 3A/R, 3A/RA, BH.125 400A, 600A, HS.125 600A, 700A, BAe 125‐ 800A; Hawker 800, 800XP This STC installs Concorde part no. RG‐390E (2) to replace either the vented or sealed lead‐acid Hawker Energy 25Ah batteries (Part no. 9750E0640) or the SAFT Ni‐Cd batteries (Part no. 23491 or 23491‐3 in the 125 series as per “Hawker Raytheon Service Bulletin 24‐ 312‐3235B modification no. 253235B). Bombardier ST01643WI Bombardier DHC‐8‐100, ‐200, ‐300 Some aircraft are equipped with an optional battery charger (Modification #SOO 8095) which will be removed as part of this STC. Use of the optional battery charger will over‐charge the lead‐acid battery and void the battery warranty. If the auxiliary or standby battery is being replaced, the Bombardier option to replace the 15Ah or 17Ah battery with a 40Ah battery. (Modification #SOO 8106) must be installed prior to this STC. For Ni‐Cd batteries to be replaced, the temperature monitoring system will be disabled and stowed. If the aircraft will operated with a mix of Ni‐Cd and lead‐acid batteries, the system will remain operational for the Ni‐Cd battery. EL-92 / 1 October 2023 Page 21 of 21 Bombardier ST01646WI Bombardier CL‐600‐2B16, ‐2B19, ‐2C10, ‐ 2D24 This STC provides for the installation of Concorde valve regulated sealed lead acid (VRSLA) batteries in place of the original equipment Ni‐Cd batteries in all models of Bombardier CL‐600 Series aircraft. The replacement batteries include externally mounted temperature sensors that duplicate those used in the original equipment batteries. It is permissible to replace either the Main battery alone, the APU battery alone, or both batteries under this STC. Battery Chargers: The CL‐600 Series aircraft are equipped with a dedicated battery charger for each battery. A variety of battery charger models are currently in service. The only model that is suitable for charging Concorde VRSLA batteries is the Securaplane Model BC‐1306 (P/N 100‐1084‐01). The BC‐1306 battery charger is FAA‐PMA approved and is included on the Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) of each aircraft model covered by this STC. The installation of Concorde batteries will only be permitted on aircraft equipped with BC‐1306 battery chargers. Installation of the BC‐1306 battery chargers is not included in this STC application because they are already covered by the aircraft IPC. Cessna SA01118WI Multiple Models The Concorde RG‐35A Series batteries have a vent valve manifold that may interfere with the inside of the plastic battery box for Cessna models 180, 182, F182, 185, 207 & T207 Series AC. The minor alternation to correct this is included on drawing no. 5‐0153 of the STC. Cessna models 205, 206, 207 & 210 require a modification to the 12V 35 Series battery to fit within the battery box. The modification is explained in drawing no. 5‐0154 of the STC. TC A46EU and A50NM) to replace the original SAFT part no. 135687, 783543 OR 785229 Ni‐Cd battery. If replacing SAFT no. 135687 please use Concorde no. RG‐128‐1 (7.5Ah breaker). If replacing SAFT no. 783543 please use Concorde no. RG‐128‐2 (15Ah breaker). If replacing SAFT no. 785229 please use Concorde no. RG‐128‐3 (7.5A & 10A breaker). The RG‐128 Series batteries have a C‐1 rate of 3.8Ah. For comparison to the SAFT 5‐hour rate of 4.0Ah, please note the RG‐128 Series has a C5 rate of 4.8Ah. Pilatus ST00776LA PC‐12 This STC covers the replacement of the original equipment Ni‐Cd battery (Pilatus part no. 976.17.31.301 and Marathon part no. 31406‐001) with Concorde lead acid battery part no. RG‐380E/44 (1) on the Pilatus PC‐12. Please note this STC was issued prior to the aircraft being modified to include an LED light on the circuit board instead of the original light bulb. As a result, the light remains on. Pilatus offers Service Bulletin No. 24‐017 which incorporates a kit that ultimately addresses the issue for customers replacing the Ni‐ Cd battery with a lead‐acid. You may contact Pilatus directly if interested in attaining this kit. Piper SA01147WI Multiple Models Many Piper AC using a size 35 battery have had the battery box modified using Bogert Aviation’s STC covering multiple Piper & Cessna AC. The STC makes multiple changes to the original configuration. An AC modified with the Bogert STC may require Bogert p/n 1‐1‐6 adaptor plates prior to installing a Concorde RG‐35A or RG‐35AXC. This kit is available for purchase through Bogert Aviation. A supplemental kit is required for the installation of part no. RG24‐20 in place of the original Piper part no. 450‐029. Kit no. 5‐0161 includes part no. 8798 Spacer (2) and part no. 9771 Plate, Hold‐Down (1). This is provided at no charge to the end customer on request.
