Product Information

The Alumigrip 10P8-11 is a two-component epoxy primer that is VOC compliant and designed to provide a smooth finish for subsequent topcoats. It is suitable for application over pre-treated aluminum substrates and can be used in various environmental conditions with proper precautions.

Mixing and Application

The mixing ratio for the primer is 1 part base material to 1 part curing solution. The primer can be applied using plural component equipment or conventional spray equipment. Initial spraying viscosity is between 32-45 seconds ISO-Cup 4 at 23ºC (73ºF). The pot life at this temperature is 4 hours.

Drying Times and Coverage

At 23ºC (73ºF), the primer dries to the touch in 30 minutes and is ready for topcoating in 2 hours. Full cure takes 7 days. The theoretical coverage is 21.5 m² per liter at a dry film thickness of 15 μm (0.6 mil).

Physical Properties

The primer has a dry film thickness of 15-23 μm (0.6-0.9 mil) and a volatile organic compound (VOC) content of 825 g/L (6.88 lbs/gal). It has a gloss level of less than 6 GU and is reddish green in color.
