EASA.21J.057. THIS BULLETIN MAY BE AFFECTED BY AD. 1. CONCERNING: All SPORTSTAR RTC airplanes. 2. REASON: Increasing the safety of the oil system of THE ROTAX 912 ULS2 / S2 series engines by installing the PYROJACKET PJA 14 protective sleeves on the oil system hoses. 3. REQUIRED ACTIONS: 1. Install the PYROJACKET PJA 14 protective sleeves on the hose assembly of the ROTAX 912 ULS2 / S2 engine oil system. 2. Record the bulletin implementation in the Logbook. 4. LATEST DAY OF ACTION: During the regular inspection after 100 hours or during the annual inspection whichever occurs first. 5. CARRIED OUT BY: Organizations authorized for maintenance / repairs of this type of airplane in accordance with Part ML, or Part 145, or Part CAO or the relevant authorized person. 6. Remove the engine cowlings in accordance with the procedure specified in the Airplane Maintenance Manual for SportStar RTC (Doc. No. ERTC021-10-AS), Section 71-10. Disconnect the battery. CAUTION DO NOT SPILL THE ENGINE OIL INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN REMOVING THE INDIVIDUAL OIL SYSTEM HOSES. 1.3.2 Drain the oil from the oil system in accordance with the procedure specified in the Airplane Maintenance Manual for SportStar RTC (Doc. No. ERTC021-10-AS), Section 12-10. 1.3.3 Cut off the cable ties which attach the oil system hoses to the other components. Remove the original rubber sleeves which protected the hoses against abrasion. Remove the ends of the oil system hoses (1, Fig. 1) from the more accessible sides or remove the hoses completely - it all depends on the possibility of access at the place of disassembly. Be especially careful when working with the oil system hoses due to the residual oil inside the hoses. 1.3.4 Secure the ends of the oil system hoses (1) with suitable plugs against the ingress of dirt and glass fibers contained in the PYROJACKET protective sleeve (2). 1.3.5 Determine the length of the PYROJACKET protective sleeve (2) in accordance with the length of each individual oil system hose. Add the necessary allowance to the length of the PYROJACKET protective sleeve (2) to allow the fittings to be attached to both ends of the oil system hose (Fig. 1). The version of the oil system with a thermostat requires 5 pieces of PYROJACKET protective sleeves (2), the version of Letecká 1008, 686 04 Kunovice, Czech Republic QS-406/F-07I tel: + 420 572 537 428 fax: + 420 572 537 901 e-mail: evektor@evektor.cz http://www.evektor.cz Page : 3/4 the oil system without a thermostat requires a total of 3 pieces of PYROJACKET protective sleeves (2). 1.3.6 Slide the PYROJACKET protective sleeves (2) onto the oil system hoses (1). 1.3.7 Remove the plugs from the oil system hoses and insert the hoses into the respective screw fittings and secure them with hose clamps. 1.3.8 Unfold the ends of the PYROJACKET protective sleeves (2) so that they cover the oil system hoses (1) including the fittings from one end to the other. Secure the ends of the PYROJACKET protective sleeves (2) with the lockwire (3). Fasten the oil system hoses (1) with attached PYROJACKET protective sleeves (2) to the other components using cable ties and spacer rings. 1.3.9 Refill the oil system in accordance with the procedure specified in the Airplane Maintenance Manual for SportStar RTC (Doc. No. ERTC021-10-AS), Section 12-10. Connect the battery. Install the engine cowlings in accordance with the procedure specified in the Airplane Maintenance Manual for SportStar RTC (Doc. No. ERTC021-10-AS), Section 71-10. Switch the electrical network on. 1.3.10 Carry out the engine test, check oil pressure and oil system leaks.
