Page 1 of 6 Lake Central Air Services, Stabilizer Fitting LC-2200-21 Maintenance Manual Supplement Documen t MS - LC-2200-21 , Rev B, August 26 2005, Page 2 of 6 1.0 Introduction 1.1 The Lake Central Aircraft Services Lake Amphibian stabilizer fitting is an STC approved replacement part for the OEM part. The LCAS part is made from 4130 alloy steel, and cadmium plated and epoxy primed for corrosion protection. Its installation provides improved service life, and greater fatigue and damage resistance for the horizontal stabilizer structure. As the LCAS part is steel, it will provide superior service life when compared to the original part, which is made from aluminum. 1.2 There are no special terminology or precautions associated with the installation or maintenance of this product 1.3 There are no special tools associated with the installation or maintenance of this product 1.4 The uninstalled LC-2200-21 may be stored indefini te ly 1.5 Refer to Revo Inc. Service Bulletin B-78, dated April 03 1998. Compliance with these instructions is necessary to assure an airworthy installation. Please refer to Revo Inc. Service Bulletin B-78, dated April 03 1998, a copy of which is supplied with this kit. 1.6 This ICA is distributed with the parts at the time of first sale. Future amendments of this document will be available upon request from LCAS. 2.0 Installation & removal instructions 2.1 Eligibility for the LC-2200-21 is: Colonial C-1, C-2, Lake LA-4, LA-4P, LA- 4-200 LA-4A 2.2 Installation and removal is to be accomplished in accordance with Installation instructions: CI-LC-2200-21, Revision B, dated August 26 2005, or later approved revision. Note that a removed part may not be reinstalled. 2.3 Adjustments, checks & tests of higher assembly after installation or removal of LC-2200-21 are accomplished in accordance with prevailing Lake maintenance publications. Page 2 of 6 Lake Central Air Services, Stabilizer Fitting LC-2200-21 Maintenance Manual Supplement Document MS-LC- 2200-21, Rev 8, August 26 2005, Page 3 of 6 3.0 Maintenance Requirements 3.1 Aircraft equipped with The Lake Central Aircraft Services stabilizer fitting LC-2200-21 are to be inspected as follows: annually, or at each 100 hour service interval (which ever occurs first): 3.2 Verify the installing agency has provided the clearance as required by Revo Inc. SB78 dated April 03 1998. 3.3 Remove stabilizer inspection panels, and visually inspect the doublers inside the stabilizer for damage, loose ri vets, and evidence of cracks in the doubler. 3.4 If any cracks are suspected, cl ean and remove the pa int from the part, and inspect further in place, as described in AC43.13-1 B, Paragraphs 5-60 through 5-64. If the fitting or doubler are found to have any crack, the affected part is to be replaced with a new part prior to further flight. Should any refinishing be necessary use Aerospace Commercial & Industrial Coatings, Starpoxy TM420, N381-8006 OHMS C4.01 Type 2 Grade A epoxy primer or Randolph Rand-0-Piate epoxy primer product No. RANB6433. Retorque bolts using torque wrench on bolt head. Grease bolt shank but keep grease off of thread s. To rque to 200 in. lbs. 3.5 There are no ove rh aul tasks associated with this approval. 3.6 There is no Table of fits & limits, associated with this approval 3.7 There is no repair I rework of damaged areas permitted for the LC-2200- 21 . 3.8 The following parts only need inspection when exposed: none. 3.9 There are no specialized maintenance techniques associated with the installation or maintenance of this product 3 .1 0 There are no associated specialized inspection techniques with the installation or maintenance of this product 3. 11 There are no special t re atments after maintenance associated with the installation or maintenance of this product. Protect exposed metal surfaces as described in prevailing Lake maintenance publi ca tion . 3. 12 There is no testing of the LC-2200-21 after maintenance. The Airworthiness Limitations Section is FAA approved and specifies maintenance required under 14 CFR 43.16 and 91.403 unless an alternative program has been FAA approved. Page 5 of 6
