Distribution: All Aviation Operations Discussion: Due to the Yellowstone International Air Show, Billings Logan International Airport (KBIL) and Laurel Municipal Airport (6S8) will be closed from 0800 (MDT) on August 10, 2023, through 1800 (MDT) on August 13, 2023, the closure will include the Billings Airtanker Base and impact all fixed and rotor wing operations within the area.

A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) will be in place throughout these dates and will include both airports. Any airtankers, lead planes, air tactical, other fixed-wing platforms and/or helicopters supporting incidents from both airports should plan on repositioning to other bases/airports prior to the end of operations on August 9, 2023. The Billings Air Tanker Base will reopen with normal operations at approximately 1800 on August 13, 2023.

The Yellowstone International Air Show’s main attraction is the US Navy Blue Angels performing each day. The event may disrupt aviation support functions as it is expected to impact both lodging accommodations and vehicle traffic throughout the area. Commercial airlines have canceled flights in and out of Billings Logan Airport from mid-morning into the evenings during the closure.
