SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES
Beechcraft King Air 200 · Airworthiness Directives
Overview
This document is an Airworthiness Directive (AD) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of Australia concerning the Beechcraft 200 (Super King Air) series aeroplanes. The directive addresses a specific safety concern related to the rear pressure bulkhead of these aircraft. It mandates inspections for scoring damage and outlines the necessary compliance actions to ensure the safety and airworthiness of the affected aircraft. The directive is applicable to various models within the Beechcraft 200 series and specifies the compliance timeline for the required inspections. The document serves as a critical safety measure to prevent potential structural failures due to scoring and cracking of the bulkhead.
- The directive applies to Beechcraft 200 series aircraft, including models 200, B200, 200C, B200C, 200T, and B200T.
- Inspect the aft pressure bulkhead for scoring marks as mandated by the AD.
- Repairs must follow Raytheon Aircraft Mandatory Service Bulletin 53-3513 Rev 1 if scoring is found.
- The inspection must be completed by 11 August 2004, six months after the effective date.
- The AD was issued due to discovered scoring and cracking during maintenance checks.

Applicability
The Airworthiness Directive applies to Beechcraft 200 (Super King Air) series aeroplanes, including models 200, B200, 200C, B200C, 200T, and B200T. It specifically targets aircraft with serial numbers listed in Raytheon Aircraft Service Bulletin 53-3513 Rev 1, as well as any aircraft that has undergone post-production removal and installation of insulation material in the rear pressure bulkhead area.
Requirement
The directive requires an inspection for scoring marks on the forward side of the aft pressure bulkhead. If any scoring is found, repairs must be conducted in accordance with Raytheon Aircraft Mandatory Service Bulletin 53-3513 Rev 1. This inspection is crucial to identify potential damage that could lead to structural failure.
Compliance
The inspection must be performed no later than 6 calendar months from the effective date of the directive, which is 11 February 2004. This means that all applicable aircraft must complete the inspection by 11 August 2004.
Background
The directive was issued following incidents where severe scoring and cracking of the rear pressure bulkhead were discovered during maintenance checks. The scoring was attributed to improper trimming of insulation material, which could lead to fatigue cracks and potential bulkhead failure. The issuance of this AD aims to prevent such occurrences.
Safety notes
- Failure to comply with the inspection requirements may lead to structural failure of the aircraft.
- Severe scoring can develop into fatigue cracks, posing a significant safety risk.

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Page 1 of 2 AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section. Beechcraft 200 (Super King Air) Series Aeroplanes AD/BEECH 200/71 Fuselage Rear Pressure Bulkhead - Scoring Damage 4/2004 Applicability: Beechcraft 200 (Super King Air) series aeroplanes (Including models 200, B200, 200C, B200C, 200T, B200T) with a serial number as listed in Raytheon Aircraft Service Bulletin 53-3513 Rev 1, page 1 and any aircraft not listed in that document that has had any post production removal and installation of insulation material in the Rear Pressure Bulkhead area. Requirement: Perform the inspection (for score marks) and repair (if repair required) of the forward side of the aft pressure bulkhead, in accordance with Raytheon Aircraft Mandatory Service Bulletin 53-3513 Rev 1. Note: FAA AD 2003-13-16 Amdt 39-13218 refers, with a revised effective date of 11 Feb 2004. Compliance: Inspect (once only) no later than 6 calendar months from 11 February 2004. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 April 2004. Background: During maintenance, severe scoring and cracking of the rear pressure bulkhead was found on an Australian registered aircraft. The scoring was caused during trimming of the insulation material which covers the forward side of the rear pressure bulkhead. In this instance, a fatigue crack developed and the bulkhead failed. On another aircraft, severe scoring was found which had not yet progressed to cracking and bulkhead failure. Raytheon subsequently released an inspection bulletin 53-3513 Rev 1, to check for scoring which was later mandated by FAA AD 2003-13-16. COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998), PART 39 - 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY SCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES Beechcraft 200 (Super King Air) Series Aeroplanes AD/BEECH 200/71 (continued) Page 2 of 2 Prior to the issue of this AD, this inspection was contained in AD/BEECH 200/67 Amdt 2. Because of confusion with the requirements of another inspection contained in that AD, it was decided to issue this separate AD for the bulkhead scoring inspection. The requirements and compliance are unchanged from AD/BEECH 200/67 Amdt 2. David Villiers Delegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority 4 March 2004 The above AD is notified in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 24 March 2004.
